A Clearer Path to Resolve Incomplete Driving History

Shipping Q3 2026 (estimate) | Available to all customers with a driving history requirement configured

NEW: Candidates now have two clear ways to provide additional driving history when it's needed — and every report reaches a decision instead of staying on hold indefinitely.

What's Changing

Not every state records when a driver was first licensed. Some only report the date of a license's most recent renewal, not the original issue date. When your account requires a minimum number of years of driving history, that data gap can trigger an extra verification step for the candidate — and historically, that step offered limited guidance and could leave a report open if the candidate didn't respond in time.

We're rolling out a clearer, guided experience for anyone who needs to verify additional driving history — with explicit resolution paths for candidates, and a report that always reaches a decision.

How It Works

  1. If a candidate's available driving history doesn't cover the timeframe your account requires, they're notified by email and/or text with a link to resolve it in the Candidate Portal.

  2. The candidate can enter a previous license number — automatically checked against your requirement — or upload a supporting document, with guidance on what's accepted shown upfront.

  3. Submitted documents are reviewed by our team. If a document doesn't meet requirements, the candidate is told the specific reason and can try again.

  4. If the candidate still doesn't fully satisfy the requirement after their available attempts, the report completes so it can be reviewed — instead of remaining open indefinitely.

Important Details

  • Two resolution paths: Candidates can enter a previous license number directly or upload a supporting document, whichever is faster for their situation.

  • Always reaches a decision: Once a candidate's available attempts are used, the report completes rather than staying open indefinitely.

  • Configurable attempt limit: The number of attempts allowed before a report completes can be adjusted per your account preferences (default: 2 attempts).

  • Response window: Candidates have up to 30 days (or your configured timeframe) to respond, with reminders sent during the first 7 days.

  • Visible on your dashboard: A banner on the report shows when a request has been made to a candidate, and you can copy and share the resolution link directly.

  • Fees are unchanged: Standard service and state pass-through fees apply for each license check run to try to satisfy the requirement, consistent with today's billing.

Who Has Access
